Special Weather Statement issued January 24 at 2:36PM EST by NWS Charleston SC

Temperatures across the region will fall below freezing this
evening, then drop into the low to mid 20s by daybreak Saturday.
The cold temperatures will freeze any meltwater or slush on
untreated surfaces tonight. Secondary roads, sidewalks, or
driveways in shaded areas along with untreated bridges and
overpasses will likely have a covering of ice and packed snow
through Saturday morning.

Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces.
The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you
are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor
vehicle or to slip and fall.
