…SNOW RETURNS TO THE KLONDIKE…
.Incoming front will push a long fetch of moisture over the
panhandle. Due to cold air already in place, the passing moisture
will fall as snow beginning tonight. Moderate snow will begin
mainly after midnight with the snow lasting through Monday. A
lull in the rates is possible Monday afternoon but rates should
pick back up Monday evening. Snow will continue into Tuesday but
rates will greatly lighten up due to the front exiting the area
and the panhandle going into a more onshore/showery pattern.
* WHAT…Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 9
inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE…Klondike Highway, mainly from mile marker 8 to the
border.
* WHEN…From midnight tonight to 3 AM AKST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snowfall rates will be up to 0.5 to 1
inch per hour from midnight to midday Monday. Snowfall rates
will decrease Monday afternoon before picking back up to near
0.5 to 1 inch per hour again late Monday evening. Light snow
