Flood Watch issued January 27 at 7:50PM EST until January 28 at 4:00AM EST by NWS Buffalo NY

An ice jam may cause water to infiltrate the lowlands along the
river.

* WHAT…Flooding caused by ice jams or ice shoves is possible.

* WHERE…A portion of western New York, including the following
counties, Niagara and Northern Erie.

* WHEN…Until 4 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Strong southwesterly winds and rising water levels due
to a lake seiche is causing ice movement on Lake Erie. It is
possible that ice will be pushed onshore along the immediate Lake
Erie shoreline. In addition, ice flows down the Niagara River may
result in an ice jam. If this happens, flooding along the Niagara
River on Grand Island is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Ice jams are very difficult to predict, and can develop
