Snow Squall Warning issued January 28 at 5:02AM EST until January 28 at 6:00AM EST by NWS Caribou ME

The National Weather Service in Caribou Maine has issued a

* Snow Squall Warning for…
Central Piscataquis County in north central Maine…
Southeastern Aroostook County in northern Maine…
North central Penobscot County in east central Maine…

* Until 600 AM EST.

* At 501 AM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line
extending from 13 miles northeast of Loring to near Masardis to
Rockwood, moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD…Whiteout conditions with near zero visibility associated
with intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading
to blowing snow. Wind gusts up to 35 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 95 between mile markers 258 and 302.
US Highway 1 between Littleton and Caribou.
State Highway 11 between West Seboeis and Millinocket, and between
Grindstone and Masardis.

Locations impacted include…
Presque Isle, Caribou, Houlton, Millinocket, Fort Fairfield,
Limestone, Greenville, Patten, Mount Katahdin, Ripogenus, Mapleton,
Washburn, Mars Hill, Ashland, Easton, Sherman, Island Falls,
Bridgewater, Smyrna, and Masardis.
