Special Weather Statement issued January 27 at 10:21AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

An unusually strong low pressure system will pass north of the
state on Thursday bringing a multi-faceted threat for significant
weather to the Hawaiian Islands. Damaging downsloping winds will
be possible east of terrain Wednesday night through Thursday
night, especially over Kauai and Oahu. Heavy rain capable of
producing flash flooding is also expected over the entirety of the
island chain during this time. Intense rain rates are likely
especially over leeward terrain where the greatest rainfall totals
are expected. Finally, there is an enhanced risk of strong to
severe showers and thunderstorms with a primary threat of damaging
wind gusts, particularly over the western end of the state.
