Patchy freezing fog has developed across portions of southeastern
TN and the Tennessee River Valley, and southwestern North
Carolina, with scattered visibilities generally less than 3
miles, and a few instances of dense fog. With surface
temperatures below freezing, the risk for a thin glaze of ice to
be deposited onto elevated roadways is elevated. Remember, bridges
may freeze before the remainder of the roadway. As of right now,
the fog appears to be confined to smaller valleys, most
prominently the Sequatchie River valley.
If driving this morning, use caution when encountering fog,
especially on bridges or in instances where the roadway appears to
be wet. Increase following distance and use low beam headlights.
