producing heavy rainfall. The heaviest of the rain will fall between
9PM and 1AM, then end by 3AM.
* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE…Portions of northwest North Carolina, including the
following areas, Ashe and Watauga, southwest Virginia, including
the following areas, Bland, Giles, Grayson, Smyth, Tazewell and
Wythe, and southeast West Virginia, including the following areas,
Eastern Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, Summers and Western Greenbrier.
* WHEN…Until 3 AM EST Friday.
* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water
crossings may be flooded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Thunderstorms may produce upwards of 1 inch of rain in less
than an hour. This will run off quickly and may result in
flash flooding.
