Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • A cold front approaching the state from the west will push a broken line of showers with embedded thunderstorms through the Panhandle and into the Western Big Bend this afternoon and evening (50-85% chance of rain).
  • Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather along the Panhandle and Western Big Bend; isolated strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing occasional lightning, isolated damaging wind gusts, and an isolated brief tornado possible.
  • Storms will weaken and become increasingly scattered as they move towards the I-75 corridor this evening into the overnight hours (50-85% chance of rain) and into the Northern Peninsula overnight (20-50% chance of  rain).
  • Mostly dry conditions elsewhere today (near 0-15% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the upper 60s to middle 70s along the Florida Panhandle and middle 70s to middle 80s elsewhere.
  • High risk for rip currentsalong the Florida Panhandle; Moderate risk along the East Coast.
  • Breezy winds near 10-15 mph with gusts upwards 15-25 mph expected today; stronger wind gusts near 25-30 mph expected along the Florida Panhandle and into the Northern Peninsula.
  • Low temperatures in the middle 40s to low 50s along the Florida Panhandle, middle 50s to low 60s across the Northern Peninsula, and 60s elsewhere.
  • Widespread patchy to dense fog can be expected across the state overnight into Saturday morning, primarily across Central and Southwest Florida.
    • Areas of patchy to locally dense sea fog may linger over coastal waters throughout the daytime hours Saturday.
    • Dense Fog Advisories will be issued as conditions warrant.
