Heavy Freezing Spray Warning issued February 6 at 9:22PM CST until February 7 at 4:00AM CST by NWS Duluth MN

* WHAT…For the Gale Warning, west winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts
up to 40 kt and waves 5 to 8 ft. For the Heavy Freezing Spray
Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm per hour or
greater may rapidly accumulate on vessels. For the Small Craft
Advisory, west winds 10 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and
waves 3 to 6 ft expected.

* WHERE…Port Wing to Sand Island WI, Sand Island to Bayfield
WI, Oak Point to Saxon Harbor WI and Outer Apostle Islands
Beyond 5 NM from Mainland.

* WHEN…For the Gale Warning, until midnight CST tonight. For
the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, until 4 AM CST Friday. For
the Small Craft Advisory, until 9 AM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS…Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of
stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
