Flood Warning issued February 13 at 9:23PM EST until February 17 at 6:42AM EST by NWS Charleston WV

…The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in West
Virginia…

Coal River At Tornado affecting Boone, Lincoln and Kanawha
Counties.

.Heavy rainfall of 2 to 4 inches this weekend will result in moderate
flooding along the Coal River.

For the Coal River…Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHAT…Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…Coal River at Tornado.

* WHEN…From Sunday afternoon to Monday morning.

* IMPACTS…At 25.0 feet, Smith Creek Road and Ferrell Road become
impassable from backwater approximately 1 to 2 miles from the
bridge. Sections of Coal River Road upstream from Tornado bridge
are flooded. The river banks overflow near the river gauge.
At 27.0 feet, Coal River Road is flooded in several places along
river. Smith Creek Road and Ferrell Road are impassable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 9:15 PM EST Thursday the stage was 13.2 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
early Sunday afternoon to a crest of 27.0 feet Sunday
evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Monday
morning.
– Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of
27.0 feet on 01/12/1974.
