Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Patchy to dense sea fog will linger along immediate coastlines and over coastal water throughout the day, primarily along the Gulf Coast.
  • A cold front moving eastward through the Florida Panhandle will continue to push a line of showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of it eastward through North Florida today (60-95% chance of rain).
  • Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather across the Eastern Panhandle and through the Big Bend; strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts (40-60 mph), isolated brief tornadoes, and heavy downpours possible.
  • Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for Flash Flooding along the Eastern Panhandle and through the Big Bend as training showers and thunderstorms may lead to instances of flooding and ponding of water.
  • Mostly dry conditions through the Peninsula expected through the first half of the day with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms possible.
  • The more organized line of showers and thunderstorms will weaken and break down later today, allowing for only isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Peninsula later today and tonight (15-50% chance of rain).
  • Drier conditions will begin to return to the Florida Panhandle overnight as high pressure briefly builds in behind the cold front (near 0-20% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the low to upper 60s to middle 70s along the Florida Panhandle and 80s along the Peninsula and Keys.
  • Breezy winds near 5-15 mph with gusts upwards of 10-20 mph expected.
  • Moderate to high risk for rip currents statewide.
  • Low temperatures in the middle 40s to low 50s along the Florida Panhandle, low to middle 50s across the Suwannee Valley, upper 50s to low 60s across the rest of the Northern Peninsula, and middle 60s to middle 70s elsewhere.
  • Lingering breezy winds may create wind chills in the upper 30s to low 40s along the Panhandle overnight into Friday morning.
  • Areas of patchy to locally dense fog will be possible along the Peninsula overnight into Friday morning.
