* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is likely.

* WHERE…Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and
southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east
central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee,
Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and
Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski,
Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell,
Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie,
Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe.

* WHEN…From 4 AM EST Saturday through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS…Creeks and streams will likely rise out of their banks
in many areas. Extensive flooding of creeks and rivers is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– A powerful storm system is expected to bring periods of heavy
rain to eastern Kentucky on Saturday into early Sunday.
Widespread rainfall totals of 1.5 to 3.5 inches are forecast,
mostly falling within a 24-hour period on Saturday and
Saturday night. Locally higher amounts approaching, or
exceeding, 5 inches cannot be ruled out. The expected
rainfall on top of soils saturated from recent precipitation
and elevated flows on area streams and rivers are sufficient
to cause high impact flash flooding and river flooding. Rock
and mud slides will also be possible.
