surface high pressure (1040+ mb) and an Arctic air mass will settle
over much of the CONUS on Thursday. Prevalent cold and stable
conditions are expected to considerably limit thunderstorm
potential.

Warm and dry conditions are expected this afternoon. Coupled with breezy winds, conditions for fire are expected to be near critical. Areas along and east of I-29 are the most likely to experience near critical conditions. Humidity levels should decrease to 20-25% this afternoon as winds are weakening. Occasional gusts of 25-30 mph may create temporary periods of critical fire conditions.
