* WHAT…Dangerously cold wind chills and/or actual air temperatures
ranging mainly -15 to -35 degrees…especially overnight into
Thursday morning.
* WHERE…Portions of north central Kansas and central, east
central, and south central Nebraska.
* WHEN…Until noon CST Thursday.
* IMPACTS…The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing
temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Although the worst of this prolonged cold
snap will end Thursday morning, Thursday night into Friday morning
will bring one final round of very cold wind chills as low as -15
to -25 degrees. Later forecasts may need a Cold Weather Advisory
for this time frame.
