Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Areas of fog have developed this morning across Northeast Florida and the Suwannee Valley leading to reduced visibility near a mile or less at times.
    • Foggy conditions and low clouds will lift and dissipate by the mid-morning hours.
  • High pressure over the Southeast U.S. will break down ahead of a weak upper-level disturbance developing off the Texas coastline.
  • Isolated showers will begin to spread eastward across the Panhandle this morning, then continue through the afternoon and evening hours (65-90% chance of rain).
  • Shower activity will become more widespread heading into the evening and overnight hours, with possible embedded rumbles of thunder near the Panhandle coastline (75-near 100% chance of rain).
  • Mostly dry conditions can be expected to persist throughout the Peninsula during the daytime hours.
  • As the disturbance moves across the gulf waters overnight, shower activity will also begin to spread inland from the adjacent waters and inland (60-75% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures will reach the middle 50s to middle 60s across North Florida and the 70s throughout Central and South Florida, with interior portions of the western Peninsula reaching near or at 80-degrees.
  • Low temperatures will fall into the upper 40s to lower 50s across North Florida, middle 50s to lower 60s across Central Florida and lower to middle 60s throughout South Florida.
  • A high risk for rip currents persists along Southeast Florida beaches, while a moderate risk returns across the rest of the East Coast.
    • All Panhandle beaches can expect a moderate risk for rip currents.
