.Surf will rapidly build down the island chain today due to a
large northwest (320 degrees) swell arriving. Heights will exceed
warning levels through the day as the swell peaks, then steadily
lower tonight through Thursday morning.
* WHAT…Surf of 20 to 28 feet along north facing shores. Surf
of 15 to 24 feet along west facing shores.
* WHERE…North and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu
and Molokai, and north facing shores of Maui.
* WHEN…Until 6 PM HST this evening.
* IMPACTS…High. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful
currents. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make
navigating the channels dangerous.
