Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Mostly dry conditions and clear skies expected across the Sunshine State today and tonight as high pressure builds in behind the recent cold front (near 0-5% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the middle to upper 70s across inland portions of the state with locally cooler temperatures in the upper 60s to middle 70s along coastlines and just inland.
  • Northerly to northwesterly winds up to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.
  • Breezy winds, especially along coastlines, may cause daytime temperatures to feel a few degrees cooler than their actual.
  • Elevated wildfire conditions anticipated across North Florida this afternoon as dry air filtering southward behind the recent cold front pulls relative humidity values to fall near or below critical thresholds (20-45%); Red Flag conditions are not expected at this time.
  • Sensitive wildfire conditions spread southward through interior portions of Central and South Florida this afternoon
  • as dry air allows relative humidity values to fall to near 35-50% over drought-stricken areas.
  • Moderate risk for rip currents persists along the Florida Panhandle and East Coast.
  • Low temperatures in the middle 40s to low 50s across North Florida, 50s across Central Florida, upper 50s to low 60s across South Florida, and middle to upper 60s along the Keys.
  • Localized areas in the Suwannee Valley may see low temperatures approach the upper 30s to low 40s.
  • Areas of patchy to locally dense fog possible across the Peninsula overnight into Saturday morning.
