Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • High pressure across the Northern Gulf will maintain mostly dry conditions across the state today (near 0-5% chance of rain).
  • A dry cold front will sink southward into the state later today into tonight; however, dry air will continue to suppress any shower development (near 0-5% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the middle 70s to low 80s across inland portions of the state and along the Southeast Coast; upper 60s to middle 70s expected along all other coastlines and just inland.
  • Westerly winds near 5-10 mph with gusts upwards of 10-15 mph expected.
  • Elevated wildfire conditionsexpected across North Florida this afternoon and evening as dry air filters southward, pulling relative humidity values to near or below critical thresholds (25-45%) for several hours over dry fuels.
  • Very sensitive to locally elevated wildfire conditionswill spread southward the Peninsula this afternoon and evening as dry air allows relative humidity values to fall to near 30-50% over drought-stricken areas and dry fuels.
  • Moderate risk for rip currentsalong numerous Florida Panhandle and East Coast beaches.
  • Low temperatures in the middle 40s to low 50s across North Florida, middle 50s to low 60s across Central and South Florida, and middle to upper 60s along the Keys.
  • Lingering breezy winds may cause temperatures to feel likethey are approaching the upper 30s to middle 40s along the Florida Panhandle and Suwannee Valley overnight into early Sunday morning.
  • Areas of patchy to locally dense fogpossible along the Peninsula overnight into Sunday morning.
