* WHAT…Dangerous rip currents.
* WHERE…East facing reefs of the Marianas.
* WHEN…Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS…Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A large swath of enhanced trade-winds
extended east-northeast from Guam for several hundred miles.
This is due to a tight pressure gradient as high pressure to our
north is taking it’s time to slide eastward. As such, it’s not
out of the question that the high risk for rip currents may need
to be extended further with later forecasts.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don’t swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help.
