A strong cold front will push across the region allowing
temperatures to drop into the mid and upper 20s late this
evening into the overnight. This cold air will result in rain
changing snow with most areas seeing snow accumulations less than an
inch. Some lake enhancement is expected this evening into the early
overnight hours that could result in localized snow accumulations of
1 to 3 inches across northwest Indiana into southwest Lower
Michigan. The combination of snow, sharply falling temperatures, and
strong west to northwest wind gusts to around 45 mph will result in
potential of some travel impacts this evening into early Thursday
morning. Visibilities may be sharply reduced for a brief time in
association with the heavier snow showers. While snow is expected to
taper off by the Thursday morning commute, the colder temperatures
may result in slick road conditions for the Thursday morning
commute.
