Meteorological Summary:
 
  • A mid-level disturbance will move from the Mid-South this morning, through the Florida Panhandle today, and then east towards Florida’s East Coast tonight.
  • Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop and move eastward along the Florida Panhandle this afternoon (30-70% chance of rain).
  • Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather across the interior Panhandle and Northwestern Big Bend; Frequent lightning, gusty winds (40-60 mph), and hail (up to quarter-size), and locally heavy downpours possible; An isolated brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
  • Flooding and ponding of water cannot be ruled out over vulnerable urban and low-lying/poor drainage areas.
  • Shower and thunderstorm activity and the threat of severe weather along the Florida Panhandle decrease after sunset (near 0-15% chance of rain).
  • Mostly dry conditions elsewhere today and tonight with isolated to widely scattered showers possible across South Florida (near 0-15% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the 70s to middle 80s.
  • Winds near 5-10 mph with gusts near 10-20 mph.
  • Sensitive wildfire conditions across portions of the Peninsula this afternoon.
  • Minor riverine flooding continues for several Big Bend and Northern Peninsula rivers.
  • The full Worm Moon will pass through Earth’s shadow tonight, producing a total lunar eclipse visible from Florida from 2:26 AM EDT to 3:31 AM EDT tonight (3/14). 
  • Low temperatures in the middle to upper 50s across the Northern and Central Peninsula, upper 50s to low 60s across the Florida Panhandle, 60s across South Florida, and low 70s along the Keys.
  • Areas of patchy to dense fog possible statewide overnight into Friday morning.
