…Critical Fire Weather Conditions to Impact Area…
.A strong low pressure will move across south central
Nebraska and north central Kansas today. As the low
shifts northeast this afternoon, a brief period of
critical fire weather conditions will occur for
parts of the area.
On the backside of the low pressure Saturday,
though cooler, strong winds and very dry air will
push across much of south central Nebraska and north
central Kansas and result in critical fire weather
conditions by afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM CDT this evening.
* WINDS…From the south 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Late afternoon relative humidity ranging
from 15 to 25 percent at times.
* IMPACTS…Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued from 1 pm Saturday
until 8 pm Saturday.
