…Elevated to Critical Fire Weather Conditions Expected Today…
Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected across
the large majority of Southeast Texas on Saturday. Dry weather in
the wake of a cold front will bring only modestly cooler, but much
drier air into the area. Westerly sustained winds around 10 to 20
mph and frequent gusts up to 30 mph, alongside afternoon relative
humidity values in the teens to middle 20s will lead to critical
fire weather conditions, mainly along to the west of I-45.
Rain from overnight storms may provide some delay to the onset of
very low RH in northern portions of the area, but the influx of
dry air is expected to result in reaching the same afternoon
humidity values anyway.
* WINDS…West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…As low as 15 percent, but more generally
ranging from the middle teens to lower 20s.
* TEMPERATURES…From the upper 70s to around 85 degrees.
* IMPACTS…Any fires that start could rapidly increase in size
and intensity, and move quickly. Outdoor burning is not
recommended.
