Winter Storm Warning issued March 17 at 2:31AM PDT until March 17 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Reno NV

* WHAT…Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 8 to 18 inches
above 7000 feet with 4 to 12 inches below 7000 feet. Locally
higher amounts up to 2 feet possible on the highest peaks. Ridge
winds gusting as high as 75 mph. For Lake Tahoe: southwest winds
10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Wave heights 1 to 3 feet.

* WHERE…Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN…Until 11 PM PDT this evening.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening
commutes. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees
and power lines. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be
prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until
conditions improve.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour
possible through 9 AM PDT this morning and intermittently from
noon until 11 PM PDT tonight. Ridge winds will slowly taper
through the day.
