.A strong spring weather system will track northeast through the
region Tuesday night into Wednesday. Initial rain will transition to
wet snow with the potential for a narrow band heavy accumulations
Wednesday afternoon somewhere northwest of a New Hampton Iowa to
Winona Minnesota to Black River Falls arc. Additionally, areas in
southwest Minnesota and northeast Iowa may experience wind gusts of
up to 55 mph, leading to potential blizzard conditions if this high
wind potential is realized as snow falls.
* WHAT…Blizzard conditions possible. Total snow accumulations
between 2 and 9 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 55
mph.
* WHERE…In northeast Iowa…Mitchell, Howard, Floyd, and Chickasaw
Counties. In southeast Minnesota…Wabasha, Dodge, Olmsted,
Winona, Mower, and Fillmore Counties.
* WHEN…From late Tuesday night through late Wednesday night.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Strong
winds could cause tree damage.
