The Gallatin NF Avalanche Center in Bozeman has issued a
BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING
IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
* WHAT…The avalanche danger is HIGH on all slopes. Natural and human-
triggered slides are very likely.
* WHERE…The Centennial Mountains near Island Park, the Lionhead
area near West Yellowstone.
* WHEN…In effect from Tue 500 AM MDT to Wed 600 AM MDT.
* IMPACTS…Heavy snowfall combined with very strong winds have
overloaded many slopes and avalanches will run far downhill.
* PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Very dangerous avalanche
conditions exist.Travel in avalanche terrain is not
recommended. Avoid traveling on or under slopes steeper than 30
degrees.
