Gusty south winds and low daytime relative humidity levels will
result in a heightened fire danger this afternoon across portions
of northern Illinois, generally along and south of I-80. Quicker
drying and dormant fuels like brush and grass will be particularly
susceptible to ignition with strong winds likely leading to the
rapid spread of any fires that do occur.
Use caution with the disposal of smoking materials and consider
postponing any outdoor burns to a different day.
