…HEAVIEST SNOW CONTINUES SHIFTING SOUTH WITH WINTER STORM…
.The narrow band of heavier snow has shifted south, and the gradient
has tightened up. As a result, areas across Minnesota and west
central Wisconsin will see less snow, warnings and advisories have
shifted south as well.
The greatest risk area remains along I-90 as this is the most likely
area to have the overlap between snow falling at high enough rates
and the high winds for blizzard conditions. For the Winter Storm
Warning in Eau Claire this is mainly for the eastern portion of the
county and not the City of Eau Claire.
* WHAT…Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations
between 3 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.
* WHERE…Faribault, Freeborn, Martin, and Steele Counties.
* WHEN…Until 7 PM CDT this evening.
* IMPACTS…Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel
treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very
difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce
visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday
morning and evening commutes. Strong winds could cause extensive
damage to trees and power lines.
