Blizzard Warning issued March 19 at 8:46AM CDT until March 19 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS La Crosse WI

…IMPACTFUL WINTER STORM INTO THIS EVENING…

.West to east running bands of showers will quickly change over to
snow as they advance northward this morning. A crack of thunder
possible south of Interstate 90 along with the potential for sleet
to mix in for a brief period. Winds will be on the increase through
the rest of the morning hours with gusts from 45 to 50 mph across
parts of southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa.

Wet, heavy to moderate snows for the afternoon, generally from north
central Iowa into northeast Wisconsin. Amounts of 4 to 8 inches
still expected, but some isolated higher amounts could be realized.
1″ per hour rates expected for the afternoon. Winds gusting from 35
to 55 mph areawide, strongest over southeast Minnesota and northeast
Iowa where white-out conditions could be realized. Highest snow and
wind impacts this afternoon.

Travel conditions will quickly go from “good” to hazardous,
potentially impossible for those locations where the heavy snows
overlap with the strongest winds. Check on the latest road condition
and forecasts before heading out. Adjust, abandon travel plans if
conditions warrant it.

* WHAT…Blizzard conditions. Snow accumulations between 4 and 8
inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.

* WHERE…Portions of north central and northeast Iowa and southeast
Minnesota.

* WHEN…Until 10 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Wednesday evening commute. Strong
winds could cause tree damage.
