ALL OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY…
.Critical fire weather conditions are anticipated again on
Thursday across eastern New Mexico. Gusty southwest winds will return
while humidity values fall below 10 percent for several hours in
the afternoon. Though high temperatures will be a few degrees
below normal, high fire danger persists in fine fuels. Winds will
decrease Thursday evening, mitigating the critical fire weather
concerns.
* AREA AND TIMING…Northeast and Central Highlands (Zones 123
and 125), Northeast and East Central Plains (Zones 104 and
126) for late Thursday morning through mid evening.
* 20 FOOT WINDS…Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…5 to 10 percent.
* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
