…DANGEROUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS LIKELY THROUGH THIS EVENING…
Very warm temperatures combined with critically low relative
humidity values and uptick in wind gusts will significantly
increase fire danger conditions this afternoon and evening. With
coordination between the National Weather Service in Peachtree
City, Georgia and Land Managers, a Red Flag Warning has been
issued for Rabun and Habersham Counties in Northeast Georgia.
The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is
in effect until 9 PM EDT this evening.
* AFFECTED AREA…Rabun and Habersham in Northeast Georgia.
* TIMING…Until 9 PM EDT this evening.
* WINDS…South 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* HUMIDITY…15 to 25 percent range, as low as the single digits
at higher elevations.
* IMPACTS…Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
