NORTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO (BELOW SNOWPACK) DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND
LOW HUMIDITY…
.After lighter winds on Friday, westerly winds will become strong
across central and eastern parts of the forecast area Saturday as
a storm system moves across the northern and central Rockies. Very
low humidity values combined with above average temperatures and
the aforementioned west winds will result in the potential for
rapid fire growth along and east of the central mountain chain.
The Fire Weather Watch remains for zones across north central NM
due to marginal minimum relative humidity values in the upper
teens to low 20s.
* AREA AND TIMING…North Central and the Sangre de Cristo
Mountains below snowpack (Zones 120, 122) and the Upper Rio
Grande Valley and Lower Chama River Valley (Zone 121) Saturday
from noon to 8 PM MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS…West 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Minimum humidity between 15 and 25 percent
below snowpack.
