…RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 12 PM TO 8 PM MDT TODAY ACROSS
THE SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO
STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY…

.West winds will strengthen over northern NM today as a storm
system moves across the central Rockies. Low humidity combined
with strong west winds, above average temperatures, and receptive
fuels will support rapid fire growth from near the Sandia and
Manzano Mountains eastward to the Texas border. Meanwhile, a
couple hours of marginal critical fire weather is possible around
the upper Rio Grande Valley and the Albuquerque metro area. The
fire weather threat will decrease this evening as winds relax and
humidity begins to increase areawide.

* AREA AND TIMING…Sandia and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124),
Northeast Highlands and Northeast Plains (Zones 123 and 104) and
the Central Highlands and East Central Plains (Zones 125 and
126) from 12 PM to 8 PM MDT today.

* 20 FOOT WINDS…West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Minimum humidity between 7 and 15 percent.

* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
