The Flathead Avalanche Center in Hungry Horse has issued a BACKCOUNTRY
AVALANCHE WARNING for the following areas:

NWS Missoula MT –
MTZ001 (MTZ001)…MTZ002 (MTZ002)

* WHAT…Heavy snow, powerful winds, above-freezing temperatures, and rain
have combined to create very dangerous avalanche conditions.

* WHERE…All elevations of the Whitefish, Swan, and Flathead Ranges, and
the Lake McDonald and Marias Pass areas of glacier National Park.

* WHEN…In effect from Mon 07:00 MDT to Tue 07:00 MDT.

* IMPACTS…Below about 6500 feet, rain on recent snow has created
widespread wet snow avalanche hazards. Above this elevation, unstable slabs
of new and drifted snow have formed. Large natural wet snow avalanches are
likely; large to very large dry slab avalanches are likely.

* PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Very dangerous avalanche
conditions. Avalanches may run long distances, run through treed slopes, and
entrain destructive amounts of debris. Travel where avalanches start, run,
or stop is not recommended.

Consult http://www.flatheadavalanche.org/ or www.avalanche.org for more
detailed information.

Similar avalanche danger may exist at locations outside the coverage area of
