Special Weather Statement issued March 28 at 8:33AM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA

The combination of dry fuels, S-SW winds of 10 to 15 mph gusting
to around 20 to 25 mph this afternoon, and relative humidity
values dropping to 25 to 30% will result in an increased fire
danger threat for northeastern North Carolina.

The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on
all open burning until further notice, and all burning permits
have been cancelled. Residents with questions can contact their NC
Forest Service county ranger or their county fire marshal’s
office.

* WHAT....The warm air temperatures in the 70s may cause people to underestimate the dangers of the very cold water temperatures which are currently only in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees. * WHERE...Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties. * WHEN...From 8 AM EDT Sunday through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...The cold water temperatures can quickly cause hypothermia to anyone in the water. Air Quality Alert issued June 7 at 6:37PM EDT by NWS Gray ME

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Air Quality has issued an Air Quality Alert for particle pollution until 11 PM EDT Sunday. Particle pollution levels are expected to rise into the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range on Sunday, June 8th. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, the elderly, those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma, those with heart disease and anyone who
