Winter Weather Advisory issued March 30 at 2:55PM AKDT until April 3 at 4:00PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK

* WHAT…Multiple rounds of wet snow expected Monday morning
through Thursday, possibly mixing with rain during the afternoon
hours. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 12 inches. The heaviest
amounts will be from Eielson AFB east and on Tuesday. Breezy
conditions will accompany snowfall on Monday and Tuesday.

* WHERE…Portions of Northern Alaska.

* WHEN…From 1 AM Monday to 4 PM AKDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. Surfaces could become
very slippery. Ponding of water expected during afternoon and
evening hours later this week.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A fast moving warm front will bring snow
into the Fairbanks area for the Monday morning commute with 1 to
3 inches expected through Monday afternoon. A mix of rain and
snow is possible in the valleys Monday afternoon. Heavier snow
will arrive Monday night into Tuesday when an additional 3 to 7
inches will fall. Snow will taper off Tuesday evening before
more snow arrives Wednesday, tapering off Thursday. Rain mixing
with snow is possible each afternoon. Snow will be of the wet
and heavy variety. Total snow accumulations will be from 5 to
12 inches, though melting during the afternoon hours will reduce
the total amount of snow piled up at any one time. High
temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s to near 50
degrees next weekend. All of this will make for icy and slippery
travel conditions.
