Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Franklin and Williamson
Counties.

.The Big Muddy River continues to rise due to heavy rain last week
and over the weekend. The river will crest on Thursday before
starting a very slow fall.

* WHAT…Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
forecast.

* WHERE…Big Muddy River near Murphysboro.

* WHEN…Until further notice.

* IMPACTS…At 36.0 feet, Damage begins to property near Shoemaker
Drive in Murphysboro. Evacuations may be needed to parts of a
mobile home park.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 10:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 35.7 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise to a crest of 37.0
feet early Thursday morning.
– Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of
36.9 feet on 05/05/1983.
