Flood Warning issued April 9 at 1:25PM EDT by NWS Indianapolis IN

…The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana…

White River.

.Major flooding continues on the White River. The crest on the White
Wednesday afternoon was near Edwardsport and forecast to reach
Petersburg Friday night and Hazleton Saturday. Spencer is expected
to fall below flood stage Thursday night, but Petersburg and
Hazleton will remain above flood stage through next week and into
the week of April 20.

* WHAT…Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE…White River at Petersburg.

* WHEN…Until further notice.

* IMPACTS…At 27.0 feet, A near record flood is in progress. Water
level is at a height approached in June 2008 and exceeded in
January 2005. Evacuations are necessary. River cabins are
destroyed. Great damage occurs to rural county road system. SR 56
begins to flood in the Bowman area. Flooding may damage railroads.
Flood waters overtop almost all levees in the Petersburg area.

– At 12:45 PM EDT Wednesday /11:45 AM CDT Wednesday/ the stage
was 26.3 feet.
– Recent Activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 12:45 PM EDT Wednesday /11:45 AM CDT Wednesday/ was
26.3 feet.
– Forecast…The river will rise to 27.5 feet early Tuesday
morning.
– Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
