WHAT…Breezy south winds sustained at 20 to 25 mph and gusting 25
to 40 mph, dry vegetation, and relative humidities less than 40
percent will lead to elevated fire danger starting this afternoon.

WHERE…All of central Iowa, but especially west and north

WHEN…During the afternoon and early evening hours.

IMPACTS…Any fires that ignite may spread rapidly.

PREPAREDNESS AND PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS…Burning is discouraged under
these conditions. Also, take care to prevent the start of accidental
fires when smoking or operating vehicles around dry vegetation.
