UPPER RIO GRANDE AND LOWER CHAMA RIVER VALLEYS, WEST CENTRAL NM,
AND ALL AREAS ALONG AND EAST OF THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN DUE TO
STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY AND HIGH FIRE DANGER…
.After very poor humidity recovery this morning, another day of
critical fire weather conditions is expected today. Temperatures
will stay several degrees above 30-year averages with
exceptionally dry conditions causing humidity to plummet. Winds
will also be slightly stronger than Saturday. Finer fuels and
grasses that have not yet had green-up will be most susceptible
to rapid fire spread.
* AREA AND TIMING…This includes the West Central Mountains (Zone
105), West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109), Upper Rio Grande
Valley (Zone 121), and all areas along and east of the Central
Mountain Chain (Zones 104, 122, 123, 124, 125, and 126) today
between 10 am and 8 pm MDT.
* 20 FOOT WINDS…West southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts
up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Minimum values between 4 and 10 percent.
* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
