WHAT…Strong winds from the northwest at 20 to around 30 mph
with gusts between 35 and 45 mph, mainly dry grasses and vegetation,
and low relative humidity between 30 and 40 percent will lead to
elevated fire danger today.
WHERE…Much of central Iowa.
WHEN…Now until 7pm.
IMPACTS…Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly. Unsecured
outdoor objects may be blown around and smaller tree branches may
break.
PREPAREDNESS AND PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS…Burning is discouraged under
these conditions. Also, take care to prevent the start of accidental
fires when smoking or operating vehicles around dry vegetation.
