* WHAT…Southwest winds turning northeast: 20 to 30 mph with gusts
up to 40 mph expected. Higher gusts around 50 mph associated with
showers.

* WHERE…Flathead/Mission Valleys.

* WHEN…From noon to 9 PM MDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS…Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous
conditions for small craft.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Visibility reductions will accompany frontal
passage with rain abruptly changing to snow by the afternoon.

Relative humidity values are forecast to drop to 20 to 25 percent by mid-afternoon as well. This combined with dry vegetation will lead to elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon diminishing early this evening. WHERE...Along and north of Highway 20 in north central Iowa. WHEN...Until 8pm this evening. IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and may become uncontrolled. PREPAREDNESS AND PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS...Burning is discouraged under these conditions. Special Weather Statement issued April 16 at 1:10PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD

Warm and dry conditions are expected this afternoon. Coupled with breezy winds, conditions for fire are expected to be near critical. Areas along and east of I-29 are the most likely to experience near critical conditions. Humidity levels should decrease to 20-25% this afternoon as winds are weakening. Occasional gusts of 25-30 mph may create temporary periods of critical fire conditions.
