VERY LOW HUMIDITY…

…FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
FRIDAY EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE
TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY…

.Strengthening southwest winds combined with low humidity will
create areas of critical fire weather conditions for portions of
central and western NM through this evening. Southwest winds will
increase even more on Thursday and combine with many hours of
single-digit humidity to create extremely critical fire weather
conditions across much of central and eastern NM, with critical
fire weather conditions elsewhere. Critical fire weather
conditions will likely redevelop on Friday across much of central
and eastern NM as strong southwest winds persist.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire
Weather Watch…which is in effect from Friday afternoon through
Friday evening.

* AREA AND TIMING…This includes the Northeast Highlands (Zone
123), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Sandia and Manzano
Mountains (Zone 124), and Central Highlands (Zone 125).

* 20 FOOT WINDS…Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35
mph today. Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts between 50
and 60 mph on Thursday. Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts
up to 45 mph on Friday.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Minimum values 5 to 11 percent today, 4 to
10 percent on Thursday, and 10 to 14 percent on Friday.

* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
