FRIDAY EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE
TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY…
.Strengthening southwest winds combined with low humidity will
create areas of critical fire weather conditions for portions of
central and western NM through this evening. Southwest winds will
increase even more on Thursday and combine with many hours of
single-digit humidity to create extremely critical fire weather
conditions across much of central and eastern NM, with critical
fire weather conditions elsewhere. Critical fire weather
conditions will likely redevelop on Friday across much of central
and eastern NM as strong southwest winds persist.
* AREA AND TIMING…This includes the Upper Rio Grande and Lower
Chama River Valley (Zone 121), West Central Mountains (Zone
105), and the West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109).
* 20 FOOT WINDS…Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35
mph today. Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts between 50
and 60 mph on Thursday.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Minimum values 5 to 11 percent today and 4
to 10 percent on Thursday.
* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
