…RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 9 PM MDT THURSDAY FOR
ALL OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND
VERY LOW HUMIDITY…
…FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
FRIDAY EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE
TO GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY…
.Strengthening southwest winds combined with low humidity will
create areas of critical fire weather conditions for portions of
central and western NM through this evening. Southwest winds will
increase even more on Thursday and combine with many hours of
single-digit humidity to create extremely critical fire weather
conditions across much of central and eastern NM, with critical
fire weather conditions elsewhere. Critical fire weather
conditions will likely redevelop on Friday across much of central
and eastern NM as strong southwest winds persist.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire
Weather Watch…which is in effect from Friday afternoon through
Friday evening.
* AREA AND TIMING…This includes the East Central Plains (Zone
126).
* 20 FOOT WINDS…Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts between
50 and 60 mph Thursday. Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts
up to 45 mph on Friday.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…Minimum values 5 to 10 percent Thursday and
10 to 14 percent Friday.
* IMPACTS…Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
