…THE VALDEZ AVALANCHE CENTER HAS ISSUED A SPECIAL AVALANCHE
STATEMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS: VALDEZ, THOMPSON PASS FROM 6AM
SATURDAY THROUGH 6AM SUNDAY…
* WHAT…Due to recent large amounts of snowfall on an unstable
snowpack, combined with a large number of backcountry users,
dangerous avalanche conditions exist. The backcountry danger is
CONSIDERABLE.

Pass area.
* WHEN…In effect from SATURDAY 6:00 AM through SUNDAY 6:00 AM

triggered avalanches may be able to step down to deeper layers
in the snowpack creating very large avalanches.
* PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…If you choose to travel
in avalanche terrain, conservative terrain choices are
recommended. Advanced route finding and assessment skills will
