Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible across the state this afternoon and evening with the help of the sea breezes and an upper-level disturbance approaching the state (near 0-20% chance of rain).

  • An isolated strong to severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out through the peak heating hours of the day.
  • Otherwise, mostly dry conditions and mostly to partly sunny skies expected today.
  • High temperatures in the middle 80s to middle 90s; Locally cooler temperatures along coastlines with the help of the afternoon sea breezes.

  • Shifting winds near 5-10 mph with gusts near 10-15 mph.
  • Sensitive to elevated wildfire conditions are likely across the Peninsula this afternoon and evening.

  • Mandatory Burn Bans are in effect for 21 counties in the Florida Peninsula (Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus,  Collier, DeSoto, Flagler, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Okeechobee, Orange, Pasco, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia).
  • Moderate to high risk for rip currents along the East Coast and Florida Panhandle.
  • Low temperatures in the 60s overnight with upper 60s to middle 70s along Southeast Florida and the Keys.

  • Areas of patchy to locally dense fog possible across the state overnight into Sunday morning
