Flood Watch issued May 1 at 5:14AM AST until May 2 at 8:00AM AST by NWS San Juan PR

* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

* WHERE…Puerto Rico.

* WHEN…Through Friday morning.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water
crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding
of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are
running high and could flood with more heavy rain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Rainfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches,
with locally higher amounts of 5 inches particularly across
central Puerto Rico. Elsewhere, expect rainfall amounts
around 1 to 2 inches.

Due to already saturated soils and rivers and tributaries
running above normal values; the threat for flood
continues at least through Friday. Any prolonged period of
heavy rainfall will result in urban and flash flooding, river
flooding and mudslides particularly across central Puerto
Rico where rains have been abundant in the last couple of
days.
