Special Weather Statement issued May 2 at 12:04AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK

A strong front moves north from the Gulf of Alaska bringing rain
and snow to the Interior Friday through Saturday. Rain/snow
showers develop during the late morning around the Fortymile and
moves north/west to Fairbanks by early afternoon. Fairbanks may
mix with snow Friday night between 10PM and 8AM but snow
accumulations are not expected in the valley. Locations above
1500ft will be mostly snow, but may briefly mix with rain Friday
afternoon/evening. Snow accumulations are expected to be 2-5
inches in elevations above 1500 ft.

Rainfall amounts for the Interior valleys below 1500ft will be
around 0.25″ with some locally higher amounts up to 0.5″ in
heavier rain bands.

Most of the precipitation will end by late Saturday night across
the area leaving Sunday much drier with some sunshine.
