Red River near Gainesville affecting Cooke and Love Counties.
* WHAT…Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE…Red River near Gainesville.
* WHEN…Until further notice.
* IMPACTS…At 34.0 feet, Crop and range lands… pecan groves…
oil wells… and rural roads are flooded or isolated. Low-lying
fields… upstream in western Love County in Oklahoma… and Cooke
County in Texas… experience overflows several hours before the
crest reaches the Interstate Highway I-35 crossing north of
Gainesville. Sandpit operations area affected. Livestock and other
property should be removed to places which are at least 9 feet
higher than nearby river banks to avoid being stranded.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 8:00 PM CDT Friday the stage was 31.8 feet.
– Bankfull stage is 25.0 feet.
– Forecast…The Red River is expected to rise to a crest of
34.0 feet tomorrow evening.
– Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of
34.5 feet on 05/22/2015.
